MOVE IT PUSHES FOR RECONSIDERATION OF FLEET DOWNSIZING

Motorcycle taxi platform Move It has urged the Motorcycle Taxi Technical Working Group (MCT-TWG) to stop enforcing an April 2025 order that cuts its rider allocation, warning that more than 14,000 riders risk losing their jobs.

The company argued that the decision, which also suspends operations outside Metro Manila, was made without due process as key TWG members and affected parties were excluded from the hearing.

Move It highlighted the significant impact of the order on riders in Metro Manila, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro, as well as on thousands of commuters relying on their services.

They emphasized that regulatory powers must respect constitutional due process and that their compliance with guidelines was overlooked.

Move It stressed that delays in resolving the issue will hurt both workers and the commuting public, especially ahead of the expected traffic disruptions from the upcoming EDSA rehabilitation project.
