MERALCO POWERGEN EYES SOUTHEAST ASIA LEADERSHIP WITH MAJOR PROJECTS

Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen), the power generation arm of tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan’s Meralco Group, is positioning itself as a leading energy player in Southeast Asia.

With over 5,000 megawatts in its portfolio, MGen operates solar, thermal, and natural gas projects in the Philippines and abroad, including investments in Singapore-based PacificLight Power.

Chairman Pangilinan called the next five years the company’s “golden years” as it pursues major projects, such as the $3.3-billion liquefied natural gas venture with Aboitiz Power and San Miguel Global Power and the P200-billion MTerra Solar project in Central Luzon.

MGen president and CEO Emmanuel Rubio said the company’s rebranded identity, “One MGen,” reflects its vision to deliver reliable energy today while building future-ready solutions.

Meanwhile, Meralco subsidiary Miescor acquired 400,000 shares of Customer Frontline Solutions Inc. from Bayad Center for P74 million, further strengthening the group’s customer services arm.
