MAYNILAD SETS SIGHTS ON PRIMEWATER ACQUISITION

West Zone water concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. has expressed interest in acquiring Villar-owned PrimeWater if the latter is put up for sale.

Maynilad CEO Ramoncito Fernandez said the company is open to exploring the acquisition as both operate within the water industry.

PrimeWater, serving over 1.7 million households across several regions in the Philippines, has faced consumer complaints but remains a significant player outside Metro Manila.

Former senator Cynthia Villar revealed that her husband, Manuel Villar Jr., plans to sell PrimeWater due to political issues.

Maynilad, which is preparing for an initial public offering next month, is jointly owned by Metro Pacific Investments Corp., DMCI Holdings, and Marubeni Corp.
