Filipino-British boxer John Marvin and countryman Rogen Ladon delivered stunning knockout victories in their respective bouts.
Marvin, 31, is aiming to secure a slot for the Paris Games and has been fighting with tremendous urgency.
He demonstrated this with a ruthless second-round stoppage of Iranian Pouria Amiri in the men’s 92-kilogram class at the World Qualification Tournament in Busto Arsizio, Italy.
This victory brings him three steps closer to realizing his Olympic dream.
Likewise, Ladon, a former World Championship bronze medalist, secured a place in the round of 16 of the men’s 51kg section with an electric second-round knockout of Moroccan Said Mortaji.
Unfortunately, Hergie Bacyadan’s Olympic journey came to an end with a close 3-2 split decision defeat to Brazilian Viviane Pereira in the women’s 75kg division.
