Marikina City Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro ordered heightened traffic management and stricter security in marketplaces and commercial areas ahead of the Christmas shopping season.
Traffic enforcers and personnel from the Office of Public Safety and Security (OPSS) were deployed to critical intersections and entry points to ease congestion and enforce loading, unloading, and parking rules.
The move comes after public feedback indicated prolonged travel times even outside peak hours, prompting data-driven traffic adjustments in key areas.
Teodoro also directed the Marikina police to increase visibility and tighten market security to prevent theft and pickpocketing during the holiday rush.
The city conducted consultations with vendors, shoppers, and drivers to balance commerce and mobility while ensuring safety and orderly traffic flow.
