During the Independence Day parade in Manila, President Marcos vowed to protect the Philippines’ territory and urged Filipinos to defend their freedom, emphasizing the importance of unity and courage.
He reminded the youth of the sacrifices made by their ancestors and stressed the need to continue fighting for national sovereignty.
The event featured 22 floats depicting historic events, attended by First Lady Liza Marcos and Cabinet officials, and concluded with a fireworks display and a concert.
Amid criticisms over the new “Bagong Pilipinas” song and pledge, Marcos and his officials participated, following a directive to include them in flag ceremonies.
Speaker Martin Romualdez and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo highlighted the ongoing responsibility to fight for justice and freedom, drawing inspiration from the nation’s history and the sacrifices of its heroes.
