President Marcos condemned the actions of China’s People’s Liberation Army Air Force for executing dangerous maneuvers and dropping flares near a Philippine Air Force aircraft conducting a routine patrol over Panatag Shoal, describing them as “unjustified, illegal, and reckless.”
The incident, which threatened the safety of Filipino pilots and crew, occurred within Philippine sovereign airspace, raising concerns about regional stability.
Marcos emphasized the Philippines’ commitment to diplomacy while urging China to act responsibly in the region. Senate President Pro-Tempore Jinggoy Estrada also condemned the incident, calling it a blatant violation of international law and aviation safety standards.
He reiterated the Philippines’ resolve to defend its sovereignty and continue advocating for peaceful solutions to territorial disputes.
