President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Henry Rhoel Aguda as the new Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), replacing Ivan Uy, who resigned earlier this month.
Aguda, a digital technocrat with extensive experience in banking, technology, and telecommunications, resigned as president and CEO of UnionDigital Bank in August 2024.
He previously served as the Digital Infrastructure Lead at the Private Sector Advisory Council, assisting the government in fostering innovation between public and private sectors.
Aguda has held various leadership roles, including board chairman of City Savings Bank and UBX Philippines, and senior executive positions at Union Bank of the Philippines and Globe Telecom.
A graduate of the University of the Philippines, he holds a degree in mathematics and a Juris Doctor, with further studies at the Wharton School and the University of Asia and the Pacific.
