Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced that the city’s free ride program will continue on April 6, providing commuters with transportation assistance across major routes.
Residents were advised to look for jeepneys marked “Libreng Sakay” or coordinate with traffic personnel from the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, as not all units are participating.
More than 1,400 jeepneys are expected to join the initiative, with the city government subsidizing drivers at ₱3,500 per day.
The program benefited over 308,000 passengers in its first two days, according to city data.
Moreno said the continuation of the five-day program may still be extended depending on available funds, though no decision has been made beyond April 8.
