MANILA BAY SEES SECOND FUEL TANKER SINKING

The fuel tanker “MTKR Jason Bradley” sank off Mariveles, Bataan, on Saturday, causing a diesel leak that the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is currently addressing.

The vessel had no cargo, but divers found and sealed leaks, with more equipment expected for proper diesel removal.

This incident occurred just two days after the Terra Nova sank, delaying its salvage operations due to additional leaking valves.

Harbor Star Shipping Services, contracted for the Terra Nova operation, plans to start siphoning its 1.4 million liters of fuel once the leaks are sealed.

Meanwhile, concerns are rising among local fishers about the oil spill’s potential impact on Manila Bay, already suffering from Typhoon Carina and monsoon disruptions.
