MANDAUE CITY FORMS PRICE MONITORING COUNCIL TO PROTECT CONSUMERS DURING CALAMITIES

Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano has signed Executive Order 2025-059, establishing the Local Price Monitoring Council (LPMC) to enforce price freezes and ceilings on essential goods during calamities.

The council, created under the Price Act (RA 7581), aims to prevent price manipulation, hoarding, and profiteering while ensuring consumer protection.

Ouano will chair the council, joined by key city officials and representatives from the DTI-Central Visayas, local consumer groups, and business sectors.

The LPMC will conduct round-the-clock price monitoring on basic goods such as rice, canned food, medicines, and fuel, as well as handle complaints and recommend sanctions against violators.

Funding for its operations will come from the city’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund.
