The Malabon City government is intensifying preparations for the potential effects of El Niño, including extreme heat, water shortages, increased fire risks, and possible disruptions to food supplies and livelihoods.
Mayor Jeannie Sandoval is leading coordination among city departments, barangay officials, utility providers, and partner agencies to strengthen the local government’s response.
Officials are prioritizing water conservation, emergency water distribution planning, heat-health advisories, and preparations to assist residents vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
The city is also monitoring food availability and prices while encouraging residents to conserve water, observe fire safety precautions, and follow official advisories.
Through early planning and community participation, Malabon aims to minimize the effects of prolonged dry conditions and protect the health, safety, and livelihoods of its residents.
