The House prosecution panel has challenged the defense team of Vice President Sara Duterte to deliver on its promised “bloodbath” as preparations continue for the resumption of her impeachment trial on November 9.
Prosecution spokesperson and lawmaker Ace Barbers said Duterte’s lawyers have had sufficient time to prepare their arguments against the remaining impeachment charge involving alleged unexplained wealth.
The prosecution maintains that financial records, statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALNs), and other documents support its allegations against the Vice President and her husband.
The defense is expected to present its evidence before the Senate impeachment court when proceedings resume, allowing Duterte’s legal team to respond to the accusations.
Barbers emphasized that the senator-judges should base their decision on the evidence presented by both sides rather than political speculation.
