The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is asking jeepney drivers to cancel their three-day strike that was supposed to start on Monday.
During a press briefing, LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III, said that he spoke to the president of PISTON, Mody Floranda, to try and find a solution that would benefit the commuters.
Guadiz also gave a warning that if jeepney drivers go on strike, they might lose their licenses to operate.
He explained that this goes against the agreement they made with the government, where having a license is seen as a privilege. If they continue with the strike, their licenses could be suspended or even revoked.
However, Floranda said in an interview that PISTON will only cancel the strike if the government listens to their demands regarding the modernization program for public utility vehicles.
