The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has vowed to fully implement the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) despite facing delays.
LTFRB Chair Atty. Teofilo Gaudiz III said the agency is working with government financing institutions to help modernized jeepney operators meet their loan obligations.
The program has faced challenges, with former Transport Secretary Vince Dizon calling it “not viable” due to loan repayment issues.
By June 2025, the government expects to have released up to ₱15 billion in loans, with over ₱5 billion still outstanding.
A special committee was formed earlier this year to review and speed up the PTMP’s implementation.
