Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste urged politicians and DPWH contractors to voluntarily give up more of their wealth to help address national problems, including the aftermath of recent typhoons.
Leviste linked his call to ongoing concerns over corruption in DPWH flood control projects and the urgent needs of affected communities.
The young businessman-turned-lawmaker revealed he has already donated ₱6 billion from his Solar Philippines New Energy Corporation shares to support typhoon victims and underprivileged students.
He also pledged to eventually give away all of his wealth, emphasizing that wealthy Filipinos have a moral obligation to share their resources.
Leviste cited philanthropists like Warren Buffett and Bill Gates as examples and encouraged others to follow suit.
