The La Salle Green Archers reclaimed the UAAP men’s basketball championship by defeating the University of the Philippines Maroons, 80-72, in Game 3 of the finals at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Finals MVP Mike Phillips led the Archers with 25 points, 18 rebounds, an assist, and a block, dominating especially in the first half.
La Salle trailed at 64-all before a key triple by Rey Remogat and a 7-0 run from Mason Amos and Vhoris Marasigan gave them the lead they would not relinquish.
UP’s Rey Remogat scored 21 points, but costly turnovers and clutch plays from JC Macalalag, Amos, and Kean Baclaan sealed the win for La Salle.
Overcoming injuries and entering the playoffs as the fourth seed, La Salle became the second team in UAAP history to win the title from that position, marking their 11th overall championship.
