JOINT EFFORTS: PHILIPPINES, BRUNEI ESTABLISH PACT FOR MARITIME COLLABORATION

President Marcos made his inaugural visit to Brunei, witnessing the signing of several significant agreements aimed at bolstering bilateral ties. 

Among these agreements were collaborations on maritime cooperation, tourism, seafarers’ training, and food security, all signed during Marcos’ two-day stay in Brunei. 

Notably, the signing of the MOU on maritime cooperation raised questions about its relation to discussions on regional defense amidst the Philippines’ maritime disputes with China.

Additionally, the agreements signal a deeper commitment to mutual growth and cooperation between the two Southeast Asian nations.
