Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez, now 29 and nine months pregnant, won Season 20 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, taking home the $1 million grand prize during the finale on September 24.
Her victory came after a powerful performance of “Golden Hour” by JVKE, which capped off a season filled with strong competitors, including rappers, choirs, dance groups, and aerialists.
The win marked an emotional full-circle moment for Jessica, who first joined AGT as a child 20 years ago but only reached the semifinals.
She rose to fame in 2012 as the runner-up on American Idol, and returned to AGT this year determined and confident, telling judges, “It took me 20 years, but I know exactly who I am.”
Jessica also revealed during the competition that she is now married and expecting her first child.
