The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has begun accepting applications for the Supreme Court seat to be vacated by Associate Justice Mario Lopez, who will retire on June 4 upon reaching the mandatory age of 70.
Interested applicants have until March 28 to submit their requirements through the JBC’s online platform or via registered mail.
The council emphasized strict verification of documents and warned that false statements could lead to disqualification and legal consequences.
After screening, the JBC will forward a shortlist of nominees to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for final selection.
Lopez has served on the Supreme Court since his appointment in 2019.
