Japan has pledged continued support for the Marcos administration’s “Build Better More” initiative, aiming to elevate the Philippines to upper-middle-income status, according to the Japanese Embassy in Manila.
The commitment was reaffirmed during the 15th meeting of the Japan-Philippines High-Level Joint Committee on Infrastructure Development and Economic Cooperation, held in Manila on Tuesday.
Dr. Mori Masafumi, special advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister, led the Japanese delegation, while Finance Secretary Ralph Recto and NEDA Secretary Arsenio Balisacan represented the Philippines.
Both sides discussed ongoing progress in bilateral and trilateral cooperation, focusing on infrastructure, disaster prevention, and maritime safety.
They also agreed to advance joint efforts in regional development, ICT, and energy transition.
