The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) secured Senate approval for its P308.2-billion 2026 budget, up from the original P285.4 billion proposal.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the increase reflects support for local governance, public safety, and the department’s 283,000 uniformed personnel.
The budget allocates P225.8 billion to the PNP, P36.2 billion to the BFP, and P31.3 billion to the BJMP, and funds 65 new fire stations and trucks nationwide.
Other agencies under DILG will also receive funding to enhance programs and services.
Remulla emphasized the department’s commitment, alongside the Senate, to strengthen governance, accountability, and peace and order across the country.
