IPO, AMBUKLAO, BINGA, MAGAT DAMS OPEN FLOODGATES AS LEVELS RISE

Four major dams in Luzon — Ipo, Ambuklao, Binga, and Magat — have opened their floodgates to release excess water following rains brought by Super Typhoon Nando and the enhanced southwest monsoon, PAGASA reported Tuesday.

Ipo Dam in Bulacan opened one gate as its reservoir neared full capacity, while Ambuklao and Binga dams in Benguet released water through eight and six gates, respectively.

Magat Dam in Ifugao-Isabela discharged water through three gates with an outflow of over 1,200 cms as its level approached critical thresholds.

PAGASA noted that Ambuklao and Binga were both close to their spill levels, while Magat remained below its normal high-water mark.

Angat Dam, Metro Manila’s main water source, remained safe and below its spilling level at 205.13 meters.
