ILOILO CITY HALL, DPWH OFFICIAL CLASH OVER REMOVAL REPORTS

Iloilo City District Engineering Office (ICDEO) officer-in-charge Roy Pacanan accused the camp of Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu of mounting a “political demolition” campaign against him over unverified reports of his removal.

Pacanan denied receiving any official directive from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) or the Civil Service Commission (CSC), saying City Hall “irresponsibly leaked” his status to the media.

The mayor’s spokesperson, Joy Fantilaga-Gorzal, said they only learned about the supposed relief order from a radio interview and maintained that any such action should be based on lawful grounds, not political motives.

Tensions between Pacanan and the city government have escalated amid delays and coordination issues in infrastructure projects, with the City Council even considering declaring him persona non grata for a third time.

Pacanan vowed to remain in his post until he receives an official order from the DPWH central office or CSC.
