ICI LAUNCHES CRACKDOWN, SEIZES CO-LINKED LUXURY VEHICLES

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) seized 12 luxury vehicles in Taguig linked to fugitive ex-lawmaker Zaldy Co after receiving a holiday tip about their location.

Authorities found nine of the cars lacked proper documentation, had unpaid taxes, and some featured undeclared bulletproofing, prompting Bureau of Customs and Highway Patrol Group involvement.

Search warrants issued by the Metro Manila Regional Trial Court allowed the confiscation of eight cars, while four others were seized during on-site inspections, with all vehicles temporarily held at the ICI office.

The seized cars, including Cadillacs, Lexuses, a Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari, and a Mercedes-Benz, are valued at around P145 million and are linked to companies owned by Co.

Legal representatives of Co claim some vehicles were subjected to earlier unauthorized stops and searches, while authorities continue applying for warrants on additional Co-linked vehicles.
