ICI EYES LIMITED LIVESTREAMING AMID PUBLIC DEMAND FOR TRANSPARENCY

The Independent Commission for InfrastZ`AQXE34SWQQWSS21sructure (ICI) is weighing whether to livestream portions of its probe or hold regular press briefings as public pressure mounts for transparency in its investigation into alleged multibillion-peso corruption in flood control projects.

ICI member Rogelio Singson said only sessions involving general information may be streamed, while sensitive testimonies will remain private to protect witnesses and ensure proper documentation.

The commission has reportedly obtained a “smoking gun” and plans to file 15 to 20 cases with the Office of the Ombudsman within three weeks, initially targeting “low-hanging fruits” tied to ghost projects.

Meanwhile, Sen. Panfilo Lacson urged the government to reinforce the ICI with more resources and legal powers, citing the overwhelming volume of infrastructure anomalies.

The ICI continues to validate over 8,000 flood control projects, a fraction of the 238,000 public works under review.
