The Makabayan bloc plans to urge the House quad committee to formally oppose former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque’s asylum bid in the Netherlands.
ACT Teachers Rep. France Castro said Roque must first answer allegations linking him to illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) before seeking protection abroad.
Roque was cited for contempt in September 2024 for refusing to cooperate in the quad committee’s probe into his alleged ties to POGO-linked firms.
He was recently seen in The Hague with Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Robinhood Padilla, where he confirmed plans to apply for asylum.
Lawmakers argue Roque lacks moral grounds for asylum, given his role in the Duterte administration and ongoing corruption investigations.
