HOUSE PANEL APPROVES COAST GUARD BILL

The House Committee on Transportation has approved House Bill 11433, which aims to strengthen the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Filed by Romblon Rep. Eleandro Jesus Madrona, the bill seeks to address operational and administrative gaps within the PCG and enhance its capabilities, including emergency and medical aid.

1-Rider Rep. Bonifacio Bosita confirmed that all suggestions and comments would be considered in finalizing the bill before it moves to the House plenary for discussion.

PCG commandant Adm. Ronnie Gil Gavan expressed gratitude for Congress’s collective efforts to support measures that enhance the Coast Guard’s ability to ensure maritime safety, security, and environmental protection.

Gavan emphasized that strengthening the PCG would also boost the nation’s ability to respond to threats, emergencies, and humanitarian needs.
