Rep. Edvic Yap (ACT-CIS Partylist) has resigned from the House of Representatives, with his departure announced during the plenary session on January 4.
He served in the lower chamber since 2022 and has not yet issued a personal statement regarding his resignation.
Yap is under investigation for alleged ties to anomalous flood control projects, including the unfinished P275.9-million La Union project, which involved contractor Silverwolves Construction Corp.
The Ombudsman and Anti-Money Laundering Council reported that Yap’s bank account received around P70 million from the contractor couple, while his brother, Rep. Eric Yap, reportedly holds an indirect stake in Silverwolves.
The Yap brothers’ accounts were included in a freeze order issued by President Marcos in December, covering assets linked to Silverwolves Construction Corp. and Sky Yard Aviation Corp.
