House leaders have called for an inquiry into a purported “deepfake” audio allegedly involving President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., amidst recent developments in the West Philippine Sea dispute.
Rallyists gathered in Morayta, Manila, expressing support for the president’s stance on maritime rights over the area. Rodolfo Villena Jr., spokesperson for Alyansa Bantay Kapayapaan at Demokrasya (ABKD), clarified that the protest aimed to denounce China’s aggression in the region without advocating for conflict.
They emphasized the importance of peaceful fishing activities and resupply missions without harassment from Chinese Coast Guards.
Villena urged unity in supporting the president’s policies for territorial defense.
However, the planned march to Mendiola Street near Malacañang Palace was reportedly
prohibited.
The group intended to convey their support directly to the president but was unable to do so.
