The House of Representatives has issued an arrest order for former presidential adviser Michael Yang due to his repeated failure to attend hearings on his alleged involvement in a PHP3.6-billion drug bust in Mexico, Pampanga.
The contempt order, signed by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco, follows Yang’s disregard of summonses and his link to the warehouse where the drugs were seized.
Despite efforts to serve the arrest order, Yang could not be located at his listed address, and there are concerns he may have fled the country.
The House Committee on Dangerous Drugs has ordered Yang’s detention for 30 days at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City and will coordinate with immigration and foreign affairs to track his whereabouts.
Yang’s testimony is considered crucial for investigating the drug smuggling network connected to Empire 999 Realty Corp.
