Volunteers from Manileños For Heritage recently restored the historical marker for the Asociación Feminista Filipina, the Philippines’ first women’s organization, located at the home of Paz Natividad viuda de Zalueta on Salcedo Street.
Founded in the early 20th century, the organization advocated for women’s rights, education, and social reforms, playing a key role in the feminist movement.
The restoration ceremony, held on March 9, coincided with National Women’s Month, highlighting the group’s contributions to women’s health, welfare, education, and civic participation.
The heritage advocates emphasized that the restoration aims to preserve the legacy of the Asociación Feminista Filipina and ensure its continued recognition.
The restoration followed guidelines from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, with the support of the building’s management, ensuring the marker’s legacy remains visible for future generations.
