HEAT WARNING! PAGASA PREDICTS SCORCHING DRY SEASON, DELAYED RAINY SEASON!

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a cautionary statement regarding the upcoming weather conditions in the Philippines.

Expecting a scorching dry season, PAGASA urges Filipinos to prepare for soaring temperatures, with recent records in Tarlac hitting 37.8 degrees Celsius, the highest so far this year.

Assistant Chief Chris Perez highlighted that temperatures are anticipated to climb even higher in April and May, with the heat index likely reaching uncomfortable levels.

PAGASA emphasizes the importance of taking precautions against the heat, as prolonged exposure can pose health risks. They advise staying indoors during peak temperatures between 12 and 3 in the afternoon, and if outdoor activities are unavoidable, seek shade periodically, stay hydrated, and wear light-colored and thin clothing.

Additionally, PAGASA foresees a delay in the onset of the rainy season due to the lingering effects of El Niño. Perez explained that even as El Niño weakens, there will be a lag effect before the climate condition returns to neutral, meaning the rainy season may not immediately follow the end of El Niño.

Filipinos are urged to stay informed and heed PAGASA’s recommendations to ensure their well-being during these anticipated weather conditions.
