Department of Health Secretary Ted Herbosa is currently stranded in Palo, Leyte, while leading 24/7 emergency health operations in areas affected by Super Typhoon Uwan.
Following President Marcos Jr.’s directive, Herbosa personally visited municipalities in Southern Leyte to assess the situation and oversee relief efforts.
The DOH is prioritizing the provision of water, food, and shelter repairs for affected families, while also conducting water testing to ensure safe drinking water.
Specialists in public health, WASH, psychosocial support, and nutrition have been deployed, and essential medicines and nutrition supplies continue to be delivered.
The department has allocated P8.2 million in logistics to sustain health operations for both Typhoon Tino and Super Typhoon Uwan.
