The Philippine teen basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas boys, has climbed two spots in the FIBA world rankings, now ranking as the 25th best basketball team globally.
The rankings, released on December 1, reflect the team’s performance in the FIBA U16 Asian Championship, where they secured fourth place.
Led by Joaquin Ludovice and Kieffer Alas, the team’s bronze finish in the tournament earned them a spot in the FIBA World Cup. In the Asian region, the Philippines ranks fourth, trailing behind Australia, Iran, and China.
The United States remains the top-ranked youth team in the world, followed by Spain and France.
Germany also made a significant jump to the top 10 after their strong performances in the U18 and U16 European Championships.
The FIBA rankings take into account recent games played by boys’ national teams in various competitions.
