Senator Sherwin Gatchalian called on authorities to arrest the Filipina accomplice of a Swedish national recently caught in Pampanga for child rape charges in his home country.
He emphasized that anyone who enables the abuse of minors must face justice and condemned the Philippines for becoming a haven for child exploitation.
The 55-year-old suspect was accused of abusing a 10-year-old, prompting Gatchalian to raise concerns over ongoing child trafficking threats.
He commended the National Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Immigration for the suspect’s arrest.
Gatchalian also urged tighter border controls and more substantial international cooperation to block sex offenders from entering the country.
