FORMER DPWH CHIEF BONOAN TIED TO ALLEGED KICKBACK SCHEME WITH VILLANUEVA

Former DPWH chief Manuel Bonoan has been implicated in a kickback scheme involving Sen. Joel Villanueva, according to sacked DPWH engineer Jaypee Mendoza.

Mendoza claimed that former district engineer Henry Alcantara converted a P600 million allocation for a multi-purpose building into flood control projects, taking 25% kickbacks from contractors.

Mendoza also said Villanueva provided a list of projects where these funds were redirected, although these were not included in the 2023 budget.

Villanueva denied involvement, accusing Mendoza and another engineer of falsifying documents to frame him.

Meanwhile, Alcantara denied knowledge of the schemes but was held in contempt for lying during the investigation.
