FILIPINAS’ ANGELA BEARD NETS GOAL DESPITE 2-1 DEFEAT AGAINST SOUTH KOREA

The Philippine women’s national football team faced a 2-1 defeat against South Korea at the Incheon Sports Complex on Monday night.

Despite conceding an early goal to South Korea’s Cho Hyo-joo, Angela Beard’s remarkable strike in the 74th minute marked the Filipinas’ first goal of the year.

Head coach Mark Torcaso commended the team’s resilience, acknowledging their spirited performance despite trailing throughout the match.

Despite South Korea’s dominance in possession and numerous shots on target, the Filipinas’ defense held firm in the second half.

Torcaso expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress, emphasizing their efforts to bridge the gap with higher-ranked opponents.

Although victory has eluded them thus far in 2024, Torcaso remains optimistic about the team’s development and their ability to compete against top-tier teams in Asia.
