Filipino-American track and field athlete Lauren Hoffman has set a new national record in the women’s 100m hurdles, clocking in at 13.41 seconds during the Duke Invitational in Durham, North Carolina.
This achievement surpasses the previous record held by Sheena Atilano for 17 years.
Hoffman, a contender for the 2024 Paris Olympics, finished second in the tournament behind American athlete Skyla Wilson.
This comes shortly after Hoffman also broke the national record in the women’s 400m hurdles.
Representing the Philippines since October 2023, Hoffman made her national team debut during the 19th Asian Games in China.
