Prominent Hollywood actor Jonathan Majors has been found guilty by a New York jury on charges of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in a car. Majors, who had a promising career ahead of him, including a leading role in an upcoming Marvel superhero film, has been dropped from future projects by Walt Disney-owned Marvel following the verdict.
Known for his portrayal of the villain Kang the Conqueror in this year’s “Ant-Man” movie, Majors was slated to play the lead role in the highly anticipated 2026 release, “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.” However, his conviction has led to swift action from the studio, severing ties with the actor.
Majors faced two counts of assault and two counts of harassment, all classified as misdemeanors. The jury deliberated for two weeks before convicting him on one count of assault and one count of harassment, while acquitting him of the other charges.
During the trial held in Manhattan, Majors stood in a gray suit as the foreperson read the verdict. Though he displayed little reaction, it was evident that the outcome had a significant impact on his future.
The actor is scheduled to be sentenced on February 6, with a potential prison term of up to one year. Prosecutors have not yet revealed the sentence they will seek. Majors’ lawyer has yet to comment on the verdict.
