Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero expressed no surprise over the ethics complaint filed against him, calling it political retribution linked to his mention of Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez.
Escudero described the complaint as harassment from Romualdez’s supporters and a desperate attempt to distract from ongoing investigations into flood control anomalies involving some House members.
He vowed to expose the complaint as a politically motivated sham.
Senator JV Ejercito, chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges, said the panel will decide on appropriate actions amid an ongoing investigation by the Independent Commission for Infrastructure.
The complaint reportedly involves allegations related to a ₱30-million campaign donation from a construction company owner.
