EJ OBIENA FINISHES 9TH IN WORLD ATHLETICS INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena finished in 9th place in the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland.

Despite his recent gold medal performances in the Memorial Josip Gasparac tournament in Croatia and the ISTAF Indoor tournament in Berlin, Obiena was unable to sustain his momentum and secure a podium finish in the indoor championships.

He cleared 5.65 meters but faltered at higher heights, exiting the competition early.

The world number 2 pole vault athlete needed two attempts to clear 5.65 meters before struggling at 5.85 meters and 5.90 meters.

The gold medal was won by Armand Duplantis of Sweden, who cleared 6.05 meters but fell short of breaking his world record.
