House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III has ordered the fast-tracking of a consolidated National Wage Bill that would establish a single national minimum wage and abolish regional wage boards.
The measure merges several pending bills and reflects broad political support to overhaul the country’s wage-setting system.
Dy convened lawmakers and labor group leaders, including the Federation of Free Workers, to align on the framework and ensure the reform incorporates labor sector input.
The bill proposes centralizing wage authority under the National Wages and Productivity Commission, with a phased rollout starting at a minimum no lower than the current rate in Metro Manila.
Dy aims to secure House approval by Labor Day, signaling a strong commitment to reducing regional wage disparities and providing a unified wage floor nationwide.
