DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan has ordered a temporary suspension of all personal overseas travel by officials and employees as the agency validates projects linked to the multibillion-peso flood control program scandal.
The suspension, effective until November 2025 unless lifted earlier, only exempts urgent medical travel and is part of efforts to uphold transparency and accountability.
Bonoan emphasized that travel approvals are discretionary and subject to public service exigencies under civil service rules.
The move follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to conduct lifestyle checks on DPWH officials as part of a broader crackdown on alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
Malacañang also tasked the Ombudsman, COA, BIR, BOC, and LGUs to conduct parallel investigations to ensure government integrity.
