DOJ ASKED TO MONITOR OVP OFFICIALS AMID FUND MISUSE ALLEGATIONS

A House panel has urged the Department of Justice to issue a lookout bulletin for key Office of the Vice President (OVP) officials amid an investigation into alleged fund misuse under Vice President Sara Duterte.

Panel chair Rep. Joel Chua cited concerns about potential attempts by OVP officials to leave the country, hindering the ongoing probe.

The officials, including OVP Chief of Staff Zuleika Lopez and other senior staff, were subpoenaed after repeated absences from House hearings.

The investigation follows the Commission on Audit findings, which disallowed over P73 million of P125 million in confidential funds, reportedly spent in just 11 days in late 2022.

COA has ordered Duterte and other accountable officials to return the disallowed amount.
