DMW FILES GRAFT, PLUNDER CASES VS FORMER OWWA OFFICIALS

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has filed charges before the Ombudsman against former OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio, two ex-deputy administrators, and six others over a questionable ₱1.4-billion land purchase.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the case upholds President Marcos Jr.’s call for public accountability.

The property, bought near NAIA Terminal 1 for a supposed OFW halfway house, was found unsuitable due to its proximity to the airport runway.

Investigators also discovered that the OWWA board was not consulted, and key documents were signed before the official deed of sale.

Ignacio, dismissed in May, is being charged with graft, plunder, and malversation of public funds.
