DILG CHIEF CALLS FOR PROTECTIONS AGAINST E-WARRANT LEAKS

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla has raised concerns about leaks in the electronic warrant system that could jeopardize ongoing investigations.

As the integration of IT systems between the Department of Justice the Department of the Interior and Local Government progresses, interoperability issues among law enforcement agencies like the NBI and PNP have emerged.

Remulla called for stronger safeguards to prevent unauthorized disclosures, suggesting an embargo period of six to eight hours on warrant information to minimize leaks.

He acknowledged that previous leaks have complicated operations, emphasizing the need for preventative measures rather than just addressing current issues.

As he takes on his new role, Remulla plans to meet with the PNP command to discuss strategies for enhancing operational security.
