President Marcos has directed the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to fast-track and expand access to digital loans for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said the move supports financial inclusion at the grassroots level and aligns with the President’s push for digital transformation.
During a meeting with digital banking leaders, Aguda emphasized the importance of digital loans in boosting economic growth and improving livelihoods.
The DICT plans to launch public access to digital loans in 2025, integrating services like PhilSys ID verification, the eGovPH App, and government-backed microloan programs.
Despite making up 99.63% of businesses in 2023, many MSMEs still face challenges in accessing credit due to limited documentation, credit history, or geographic barriers.
