The Manila city government will release the long-delayed Health Emergency Allowance (HEA) to COVID-19 contact tracers starting Saturday, December 20.
Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno ordered the immediate distribution of the allowance upon returning to office.
A total of 844 contact tracers are set to benefit from the funds, which were provided by the national government but remained pending for several years.
To facilitate the release, Moreno signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Health, allowing the City Treasurer’s Office to distribute the HEA checks.
Beneficiaries are advised to bring a valid ID when claiming their allowance, and the city will ensure an orderly process.
