The Department of Agriculture (DA) has affirmed ongoing discussions with the poultry sector amidst rising chicken prices in Metro Manila, peaking at PHP250 per kg. with a minimum of PHP190, reported by DA-Bantay Presyo.
DA Undersecretary Deogracias Victor Savellano assured interventions for affected raisers, addressing challenges like high production costs, feed additive imports, and avian influenza impacts.
He noted efforts to consult with producers on needed programs to aid recovery from last year’s oversupply, aiming to prevent dismay among stakeholders.
Despite current high prices, Savellano suggested prices may stabilize soon, advocating for exploration into underlying causes to mitigate future price hikes.
